Is it safe to use my Primo during rain or cold weather?
Yes. The ceramic is not affected by either so as long as it is safe to be outdoors, it is safe to use your Primo Grill and Smoker.
What kind of charcoal should I use in my Primo?
Any natural lump charcoal will work in your Primo grill.
How should I light the lump charcoal?
We recommend using a chimney starter to light the charcoal. We do not recommend using lighter fluid as it tends to soak into the charcoal end release bad flavors into your smoked meat.
Should the lid be up or down when I am cooking?
Cooking with the lid down will keep heat and moisture in and will result in the best tasting food. In fact, all Primo Grills and Smokers are designed to cook with the lid down at all times unless adding, removing or turning your food.
Will the exterior of my Primo get hot when in use?
Yes, the exterior shell will be hot to the touch when you are cooking on your Primo. However, unlike conventional metal gas and charcoal grills, your skin will not stick to the glazed exterior of the Primo.
Should I be worried that the thermometer does not read zero?
No. It is likely that your thermometer is reading the ambient air temperature inside your Primo.
